How many shades of red can you withstand in three minutes ?
 
Karajan, William Tell & Ezio Shulsky unite to present to you an epic and intense visual experience depicting various symbols associated to the red color to an extent where your eye melts with the variety of the image.
 
The goal of this discovery video was to plunge images and pixels into the purity of colors, letting go step by step of the usual references and schemes you grab and interpret from an image.
 
The Creation Process
 
1. Identify 38 known shades of red and their RGB values.

2. Use a color-based search engine to download and order 10-12 images per shade of red. 
The engine used is this one : labs.tineye.com/multicolr

3. Create a huge composition made of 38 comps, each one containing a diaporama of 10-12 images.

4. Test various initial duration speeds for each shade's duration : the basic acceleration factor went from x20 to X8. By detault, the editing software let the main comp span to 53 min so it had to be slowed down right from the start. Export this 8x accelerated, base-"slideshow".
5. Convert Trebble, Bass, Medium, Base and Sub-Base of the Rossini's William Tell Overture music into identifiable keyframes. Apply those keyframes to the base slideshow to get the video synced to audio beats.

6. 6 instances of the main slideshow were gradually speeded up by a factor going from 0-x0.3 to 0-x2.2, according to the amplitude and dynamics of the beats.
 
 
7. Main camera zoom to gradually immerse the viewer rather into colour than subject.
Softwares used : Final Cut Pro X, After Effects CC, Trapcode Soundkeys
 
All images belong to their flickr owners. The montage doesn't "belong" to me but I created it. I don't "own" it. Anyone with the slightest creative idea would have been able to conceive it.
